Madison County Animal Shelter Petition

Berea Rotary is working with change.org to help provide much needed funding for the Madison County Animal Shelter.
The animals don't have a voice unless we, the people, give them one. They have been voiceless for way too long, particularly in Madison County, KY.
Our local animal shelter is in a dire state of overpopulation and underfunding, creating a crisis for the homeless animals it serves.
Every month, the shelter receives an influx of animals that it simply cannot accommodate. The current facility is outdated and inadequate to meet the pressing needs of these animals. It's not just an issue of limited space; the shelter's resources are stretched thin to maintain even the most basic care standards and provide a temporary sanctuary for these animals.
A new or significantly upgraded shelter is not just a want—it's a necessity for the welfare of our community's animals. Providing a modern facility will allow the shelter to give better care, improve living conditions, and increase adoption rates. A new shelter can implement more robust spay and neuter programs, vaccination clinics, and educational initiatives, ensuring long-term solutions to the community’s animal overpopulation crisis.
Statistics show that shelters with adequate facilities and funding have significantly higher adoption rates. For example, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), communities with well-funded and spacious shelters achieve over 90% live-release rates, compared to much lower percentages in underfunded shelters. In Madison County, we have the opportunity to make this a reality if we rally together and demand action from our county officials.
The response from our elected officials is crucial, and they have the power to prioritize funding and resources toward designing a humane, efficient shelter. Investing in this cause will reflect our collective values and commitment to safeguarding animals that cannot advocate for themselves. Let us come together as a community and urge the county government to take immediate action.
Sign this petition today to give a voice to the voiceless animals in Madison County, KY. Together, we can advocate for a new shelter that meets our community's needs and reflects our compassion and responsibility toward animals.
